Der Gestanke (“The Stench”) is a northeast-based Pierrot ensemble designed to distort and reinvent the relationship between performer, composer, and audience member.

Der Gestanke is deeply invested in music written within the past century, exploring texture at the forefront of musical structure and expression.

We are particularly interested in juxtaposing staples of contemporary repertoire with new works by living composers – many of whom are our very own colleagues!
